Scallion Pancakes with Dipping Sauce
Thin savory pancakes paired with a ginger garlic chili sauce. This recipe makes 4 large pancakes that you can cut with scissors into small triangles to share with friends.

Ingredients
Pancakes
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 1 cup boiling water
- ½ cup scallions
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ⅛ teaspoon five spice
- 4 teaspoons vegetable oil
Sauce
- 1 teaspoon brown sugar
- ¼ cup low sodium soy sauce
- ¼ cup rice wine vinegar
- ¼ cup scallions
- 1 teaspoon chili garlic sauce
- ½ teaspoon ground ginger

Instructions
To make pancakes
- Place flour and water in a stand mixer with the dough hook attachment. Mix on medium speed until a dough ball has formed. Let rest for 30 minutes.
- On a floured surface, roll the dough out until it’s approximately ¼″ thick. Smear sesame oil, salt, and five spice on the top surface of the dough. Sprinkle the scallions evenly on the top surface of the dough. Carefully roll the dough up and cut the cylinder into 4 equal pieces.
- For each equal piece, twist the cylinder three times then roll and flatten until approximately ¼″ thick.
- On a non-stick pan over medium high heat, cook pancakes one at a time 2-3 minutes per side.
- Cut into wedges and serve with dipping sauce.
To make sauce
- combine sauce ingredients together in a small bowl and mix.
