How this recipe came about
Next to funfetti cake and chocolate chip cookies, brownies are a house favorite dessert. Who doesn’t love a warm brownie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream? I wanted a brownie that I didn’t feel guilty eating. So I replaced most of the oil in this recipe for applesauce. Since applesauce is sweet, I was able to take out some of the sugar as well.
Ingredient Swap
Applesauce
After chatting with a couple of friends it occured to me that some people do not like applesauce and may not want applesauce in their brownies. Or maybe you don’t have any applesauce? That is completely fine! Just use equal amount oil in place of the applesauce and bake on!
Semi-sweet Morsels
I have seen similar recipes to this use milk chocolate morsels or even dark chocolate morsels. I prefer semi-sweet but trust your sweet tooth when choosing the chocolate in this recipe. If you use something other than semi-sweet let me know how it turns out!
