UPDATE: Using builder and base gel in lieu of ge

UPDATE:

Using builder and base gel in lieu of gel glue did not work. I am getting better at applying gel x nails and they are starting to stay on longer. Hoping I can get to at least two weeks this time. Follow along for the next update.

Sat 1/14 Put nails on with builder and base gel
Sun 1/15 All gel x nails peeled off
Mon, 1/16 Redid gel x nails with proper gel nail glue
Tues 1/24 lost a pinky nail
Thurs 1/26 lost a pointer nail
Sat 1/28 nail refresh with new, xs square style. Had some setbacks with the efile and new bits.

Love this easy meal on a cold winter night ❄️

Love this easy meal on a cold winter night ❄️ Butternut Squash Curry.

Ingredients:
* 1 package frozen cubes butternut squash
* 2 cups fresh spinach
* 1 tbsp oil
* 1 medium onion chopped
* 4 garlic cloves minced
* 2- inch fresh ginger minced
* 1/2 tbsp curry powder
* 1 tsp ground turmeric
* 1 tsp ground cumin
* 3/4 tsp salt
* 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
* 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
* 1/4 tsp black pepper
* 1/4 tsp ground ginger
* 1 1/3 cup coconut milk canned
* 1 cup passata (tomato sauce)
* One 15 oz can of chickpeas rinsed and drained

Instructions:
* Heat oil in a pot over medium heat and add the onion. Sauté for about 3 minutes.
* Stir in garlic and fresh ginger and sauté for a further 1 minute. Add all spices and stir again.
* Next, add the passata, butternut squash, and coconut milk.
* Give it another stir, and bring to a boil. Let simmer on low heat for about 7 minutes or until the butternut squash are fork tender and the curry thickened. Add cooked chickpeas.
* Stir in the spinach and let simmer until wilted.
* Serve over rice and enjoy!

Faraglione di Mezzo 🪨

The signature sight of Capri is the three rocky “stacks” called I Faraglioni. They range from 80 to 150 meters high. The first, still attached to the coast, is named Stella. The middle one is appropriately named Faraglione di Mezzo (middle) and has an arch in its rock. The final one is Faraglione di Fuori (meaning “outer”) but is also called the Scopolo. Regardless of they’re called they are beautiful 😍!

See below for answers to questions I had as a first timer. Here are the steps I took to do my nails.

1. prime nails by lightly sanding and applying acetone. Push back cuticle.
2. apply gel x extensions using gel x glue
3. shape and sand nail
4. apply gel nail polish and top coat

for those of you who do not know, gel x is a type of nail extension made from gel formulations that are easy to soak off (tbd - will report back - like and follow for more 😉)

My gel x nail glue hasn’t come in the mail yet so I read that you can use builder gel or base coat. I used both and prefer using the base coat.

Applying gel x nails 1x1 is a must. The nail is kind of slippery until the UV light sets it.

There was quite a bit of a learning curve with the efile nail drill but there are a lot of great videos on @YouTube. My favorite was from @youngnailsinc
